HUD published a notice transmitting the FY 2018 income limits that are used to determine applicant eligibility for HUD-assisted housing programs, including Public Housing, Section 8, Section 202 and Section 811.
For FY 2018, the national median income increased by 5.75 percent.
HUD classifies family incomes according to the following thresholds:
- Extremely low-income (ELI): Below 30% AMI
- Very low-income (VLI): Below 50% AMI
- Low-income (LI): Below 80% AMI
