- Applications are due September 18, 2018.
- DOL intends to award 85 programs across the country.
- DOL expects to award grantees $700,000 to $1.1M.
- A 25% match from applicants, from sources other than federal funding, is required.
- Public or private non-profit agencies are eligible to apply.
- DOL intends to award 50% of the funds to Category A applicants. Category A applicants are those that have been awarded a previous YouthBuild grant in FYs 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015.
- Grantees who received funding from the FY2017 YouthBuild competition are not eligible to participate in this competition. Their programs are already funded through December 2020
- YouthBuild programs include pre-apprenticeship services that support education, occupational skills training, and employment services to at-risk youth, ages 16 to 24, while performing meaningful work and service to their communities.
- For this grant cycle, YouthBuild applicants can propose occupational skills training and other in-demand industries, in addition to construction skills training. DOL has made expansion into additional in-demand industries a priority in this grant competition.
